LIMONCOCHA + YASUNÍ TOUR 🐍

ACTIVITIES

Parrot Clay Lick & Nesting Observation

During our journey through Ecuador’s tropical rainforest, we will have the opportunity to visit a Parrot Clay Lick, a natural cliff where hundreds of macaws and parrots gather in the wild. These birds regularly lick the exposed rock surfaces to obtain essential minerals that are an important part of their diet. During the breeding season, this site also serves as a common meeting place for these species.

Yasuní Observation Tower

Añangu Kichwa Cultural Experience

During our stay in Yasuní National Park, we will visit the Añangu community, an ancestral village in the Ecuadorian Amazon that has successfully combined its ancestral knowledge with community-based tourism. The Añangu have created the Napo Wildlife Center in the heart of Yasuní National Park, a luxury eco-hotel that allows tourists to enjoy the jungle and its biodiversity in a responsible and environmentally friendly way. Here we will enjoy the cultural richness of the Kichwa people, who will welcome us with dances and demonstrations of their cuisine and way of life.

The observation tower is an architectural marvel located in the heart of the jungle. Built with local materials and ancestral techniques, this structure blends perfectly into the natural environment and offers a unique experience for visitors. From its summit, it is possible to appreciate the lush vegetation of the Amazon canopy and observe a wide variety of birds, monkeys, and other animals in their natural habitat. In addition to being a tourist attraction, the tower contributes to the conservation of Yasuní National Park and generates income for local communities.

During the visit to the community, we will enjoy a gastronomic tasting session where we can learn firsthand about the process of making Chicha de Yuca, an ancestral drink typical of the region, the harvesting and consumption of the famous Chontacuros, and the traditional production of Wayusa, a natural energy drink used since ancient times by Kichwa hunters to boost their energy levels.

Gastronomic tasting of ancestral foods

We will return to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve by boat, which will give us the opportunity to spot several species of birds that live around the lagoon. We will also have the opportunity to see several species of monkeys and reptiles such as the black caiman, the most feared predator in the reserve, which often lurks on the banks of the lake.
